Steve Worley, CEO Says Family is Safe, Hospital Closed, but Secure
Steve Worley asked to us to touch base with each of you to update his situation. He is doing well and his family is safe. While deeply appreciative of everyone's support, please take note of his request to limit communications to only high priority items...
Here are the essentials:
- Steve's family is safe and he is doing well.
- The hospital senior team has relocated to Baton Rouge in a space near the Louisiana Hospital Association. The plans are for 10 people to join him there by the end of next week. Other staff are scattered across the region.
- The hospital is closed and all patients were safely transferred. They are in great hands and he is so very thankful to everyone who helped in the process. As you can imagine, Steve is overwhelmed by the outpouring of help and prayers from the circle of children's hospitals, as he says, "I will be forever in your debt."
- At this time, Steve is primarily dealing with logistical issues as he starts up the temporary office: banking relationships, office issues, phone and computer service, etc. He is also knee deep in policy issues which include residency requirements, hospital-based and private physician and employee compensation, etc. Hopefully, phone and internet access will be up and running next week. In the meantime, the phone number for the Louisiana Hospital Association is 225-928-0026, but PLEASE only contact them for ONLY priority issues.
- Many of you have inquired about donations and other ways to support the hospital. Please contact FEMA and American Red Cross. Please do not contact Steve or the hospital team directly.
- Please know that Steve will contact you directly if he needs any specific help or assistance. He will continue to use CHCA and NACHRI as conduits for general requests for assistance and information.
Steve is deeply appreciative of all of your support, but requests that contacts be kept to priority issues only. On behalf of Steve, his family and the Children's Hospital staff, thank you to all!
